SEATTLE, WA The football world is mourning the sudden loss of former NFL running back Alex Collins, who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 28. Collins was found dead in his home near Seattle on Sunday, though no cause of death has been released publicly yet.

Both the Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens organizations, which Collins played for during his 3-year NFL career, expressed their condolences on Twitter upon hearing the tragic news:

Collins rushed for 1,067 yards and eight touchdowns over 34 games during his career with Seattle and Baltimore. His most productive season came in 2017 when he started 12 games for the Ravens and ran for 973 yards and 6 scores.

Collins was a standout rusher for the Razorbacks from 2013–2016, accumulating over 3,000 yards on the ground. Former Arkansas QB Brandon Allen, who handed off to Collins for three seasons, wrote:

Born in Fort Lauderdale, Collins quickly became a fan favorite in Fayetteville thanks to his patient running style and ability to make defenders miss.

The sudden nature of his passing at just 28 years old comes as a shock. While his playing days ended after being released by the Ravens in 2019, he was far too young to be gone.
